Impact of prior stroke on major clinical outcome in chronic kidney disease: The Salford kidney cohort study
BMC Nephrology Dec 11, 2019
Tollitt J, et al. - In this Salford Kidney Study, a UK prospective cohort of 3,060 people enrolled since 2002 and followed until March 2018, experts examined the relationships between a previous stroke and major cardiovascular and kidney disease outcomes, including non-fatal cardiovascular event, end-stage renal disease and death, in a large UK cohort of people with ND-CKD and ascertained the influence of history of former stroke on mortality for people who were begun with dialysis. For people with CKD, a diagnosis of stroke was robustly and independently related to various adverse clinical outcomes. Moreover, the previous stroke profoundly modified cardiovascular risk in CKD cases. Thus, more attention to primary and secondary preventive approaches is assured which may enhance these outcomes.
