Impact of baseline atrial fibrillation on outcomes among women undergoing contemporary transcatheter aortic valve implantation (from the Win-TAVI registry)
The American Journal of Cardiology Sep 13, 2018
Guedeney P, et al. - Researchers investigated the effect of atrial fibrillation (AF) at baseline on the outcomes in women undergoing transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) in the WIN-TAVI (Women's INternational Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation) is a prospective, multinational registry assessing the safety and performance of contemporary TAVI in women in 19 centers between January 2013 and December 2015. Based on the presence of AF, comparisons were performed among patients with available electrocardiogram (ECG) at baseline. They used multivariate Cox regression model to examine the links between AF and outcomes. Findings revealed significantly increased 12-month mortality was linked to the presence of AF at baseline in this prospective registry of women undergoing TAVI.
