Immunohistochemical and molecular analysis of spitzoid neoplasms with pulverocyte subclones

Clinical and Experimental Dermatology May 28, 2018

Amin SM, et al. - Researchers ascertained the significance of subclones of dusty-grey pigmented epithelioid melanocytes within spitzoid neoplasms. Experts considered that a variant of a clonal naevus with indolent behaviour were spitzoid lesions with a small subclone population. A greater likeliness of lesions with larger pulverocyte populations to have chromosomal copy number aberrations was seen and in some cases, these could represent malignant transformation. The most common site was the leg, with 77.4% of these being female.
