Identification of asymptomatic frailty vertebral fractures in post-menopausal women

Bone May 17, 2018

Pizzato S, et al. - Authors evaluated which factors could mostly be related to the presence of vertebral fractures in post-menopausal women. They also assessed the effectiveness of current screening criteria for the detection of vertebral fractures in an outpatient setting. In post-menopausal women, the presence of vertebral fractures could not be properly predicted with BMD, particularly in the lumbar site. Early identification and better management of patients with vertebral fractures could be led to by the improvement of the current recommendations for spinal X-ray examination.
