Identification and functional studies of MYO1H for mandibular prognathism

Journal of Dental Research Jul 15, 2018

Sun R, et al. - Authors performed targeted sequencing of genes to determine the causal genes and variants responsible for mandibular prognathism (MP) (a craniofacial deformity). At the mandibular jaw, expression of MYO1H orthologous genes was detected during zebrafish embryologic development. Moreover, they observed jaw cartilage defects in zebrafish knockdown models. Collectively, for proper jaw growth, MYO1H is required. They noted its contribution to MP pathogenesis, thereby, expanding the knowledge of the genetic basis of MP.
