Hyperpyrexia and high fever as a predictor for serious bacterial infection (SBI) in children - A systematic review

Rosenfeld-Yehoshua N, et al. - This study was initiated in order to investigate if children suffering from high fever were at high risk for serious bacterial infection (SBI). Findings revealed that young infants with a temperature higher than 400°C appeared to be at an increased risk for SBI. Minimal risk of SBI was reported in older children with temperature > 400°C.
