Human papillomavirus vaccination coverage among females and males, National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, United States, 2007–2016
Vaccine Apr 27, 2018
Lewis RM, et al. - Researchers evaluated human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination coverage in 2015–2016, temporal trends by age, and the validity of self/parent-reported vaccination status, using the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). Overall low HPV vaccination coverage was reported, with females vs males having higher HPV vaccination coverage, except in 9–13 year-olds. Among many age groups, increases in coverage have been reported, but coverage has stalled in younger females. In a pilot study, self/parent-reported vaccination of ≥1 dose, but not 3 doses, was shown to be adequtely valid.
