Histological and histomorphometric analysis of bone tissue after guided bone regeneration with non-resorbable membranes vs resorbable membranes and titanium mesh

Clinical Implant Dentistry and Related Research Jul 14, 2019

Cucchi A, et al. - Since guided bone regeneration (GBR) enables vertical ridge augmentation to be achieved with non-resorbable membranes or with titanium (Ti)-mesh resorbable membranes, researchers sought to compare histological and histomorphometric results of these two procedures. Participants in the study were 40 partially edentulous patients. In combination with autogenous bone and bone allograft, GBR using non-resorbable membranes and Ti-mesh with resorbable membranes provide comparable histological and histomorphometric outcomes.
