Hip muscle and hand-grip strength to differentiate between older fallers and non-fallers: A cross-sectional validity study
Clinical Interventions in Aging Jan 05, 2018
Gafner SC, et al. - The researchers designed this cross-sectional validity study to examine which hip muscle group strength shows an acceptable level of distinction between older adult fallers and non-fallers compared to a predefined external criterion regarding falling. In addition, they compared the same outcomes and questions for hand-grip strength in relation to the same external criterion. Regarding the chosen external criterion, abductors (ABD) maximum voluntary isometric strength (MVIS) was a useful measure to distinguish between older adult fallers and non-fallers.
