High prevalence of diabetes in patients with rheumatoid arthritis: Results from a questionnaire survey linked to claims data

Albrecht K, et al. - Researchers undertook this study to determine the prevalence of diabetes in patients with RA and the effect of diabetes on self-reported outcomes and health care. A high prevalence of diabetes, associated with known sociodemographic factors, was reported in RA patients. Data also revealed that despite a high disease burden, frequent hospitalizations, as well as presentation with further comorbidities, more than 40% of patients with RA and diabetes, were not under rheumatological care.
