Heterogeneous pattern of autonomic dysfunction in Parkinson's disease

Journal of Neurology Mar 16, 2018

Leclair-Visonneau L, et al. - An assessment was carried out of the symptoms and physiology of dysautonomia in Parkinson’s disease. No correlation was found between axial motor impairment and rapid eye movement (REM) sleep behaviour disorder with any of the autonomic complaint or dysfunction. Findings illustrated that autonomic functions were influenced in a heterogeneous pattern in Parkinson’s disease. This, in turn, indicated that the progression of autonomic dysfunction followed an erratic instead of a stepwise progression.
