Van Laecke S, et al. - As mutations in polycystin-1 and -2 are associated with decreased proliferation of immortalized lymphoblastoid cells in polycystic kidney disease (PKD), it was investigated if lymphopenia could be an unrecognized trait of PKD. Independent of kidney function, distinct cytopenias and lymphopenia, in particular, was shown to characterize PKD.
