Glycemic variability assessed by continuous glucose monitoring and the risk of diabetic retinopathy in latent autoimmune diabetes of the adult and type 2 diabetes
Journal of Diabetes Investigation Jun 22, 2019
Lu J, et al. - Among 192 patients with latent autoimmune diabetes of the adult (LADA) and 2,927 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, researchers, for the first time, assessed the connections between several glycemic variability (GV) metrics with diabetic retinopathy (DR). According to results, DR prevalence was 20.3% in LADA and 26.4% in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients. In type 2 diabetes, GV is more strongly linked with DR than LADA, implying that different glucose-lowering tactics should be employed for these two diabetes types.
