Glycemic index, glycemic load, and carbohydrate intake in association with risk of renal cell carcinoma
Carcinogenesis Aug 28, 2017
Zhu J, et al. – A case–control study was undertaken to detect the relationship between carbohydrate intake, dietary glycemic index (GI) and glycemic load (GL), and risk of renal cell carcinoma (RCC). An association was observed between a high–GI diet and an increased risk of RCC. On the other hand, increased fiber and starch intakes appeared to be associated with a decreased risk of RCC. This study suggested reducing GI levels and increasing fiber intake as a dietary strategy to decrease RCC risk, especially for individuals with hypertension or high body mass index (BMI).
