Gender-specific differences in disease-free, cancer-specific and overall survival after radical cystectomy for bladder cancer: A systematic review and meta-analysis

The Journal of Urology Evidence based | Feb 28, 2018

Uhlig A, et al. - The evidence on gender-specific differences in disease-free survival (DFS), cancer-specific survival (CSS), and overall survival (OS) after radical cystectomy for bladder cancer was compiled. The analysis revealed that compared to male patients undergoing radical cystectomy for bladder cancer, the female counterparts demonstrated worse disease-free survival, cancer-specific survival, and overall survival. The multifactorial etiology might include epidemiologic differences, gender-specific health-care discrepancies, and hormonal influences.
