Gender differences in the association between discharge hemoglobin and 12-month mortality after acute myocardial infarction
Clinical Cardiology Dec 22, 2017
Thompson LE, et al. - This study tested a presumption that among patients with acute myocardial infarction, women vs men have a lower discharge hemoglobin (Hb) at which outcomes worsen. Findings revealed that a similar association of lower discharge Hb levels with increased 12-month mortality was noted in both genders. Researchers also noted that these links were linear without a clear threshold, this indicated that any decline in discharge Hb was associated with poor outcomes.
