Gender difference in the impact of coexisting diabetes mellitus on long-term clinical outcome in people with heart failure: A report from the Korean Heart Failure Registry
Diabetic Medicine Jul 04, 2019
Kim HL, et al. - In people hospitalized for heart failure, researchers ascertained if the connection between diabetes and long-term clinical results differs by gender. In total, 3,162 hospitalized people with heart failure (aged 67.4 ± 14.1 years) were analyzed from the data set of the nationwide registry. Findings revealed that there were 1,418 cases of composite events (44.8%) during a median follow-up of 549 days. In people with heart failure, diabetes seems to have a stronger impact on long-term mortality and readmission of heart failure in females vs males. Especially in women with heart failure and diabetes, more cautious and intensive management is required.
