Functional limitation and chronic diseases are associated with food insecurity among U.S. adults

Venci BJ, et al. - The experts embraced this study to explore the associations of functional limitation because of any health problems and 6 chronic diseases (arthritis, diabetes, coronary heart disease, heart attack, hypertension, and stroke) with food security among US adults. Although directionality was unknown, food insecurity was correlated with functional limitation and chronic diseases. Interventions to prevent or manage chronic diseases could be necessary to help food insecure individuals in reducing the risk of the diseases and manage their conditions, besides the traditional food assistance program to these populations.
