From skin allograft coverage to allograft–micrograft sandwich method: A retrospective review of severe burn patients who received conjunctive application of cultured epithelial autografts

Chua AWC, et al. - Researchers performed a retrospective review of severe burn patients who received conjunctive application of cultured epithelial autografts (CEA) to compare micrografting combined with CEA to Cuono’s/split thickness skin grafting method. They observed that more severe burn patients were treated with micrografting/CEA method without compromise in clinical outcomes. In addition, using the micrografting/CEA method, the area of allograft use was reduced by almost half.
