Rheumatology Jan 23, 2021
Kim DH, Kim SW, Yeo SM, et al. - This study was sought to present the clinical, laboratory, and imaging findings in adult patients presenting with Behçet’s disease (BD)-associated myositis before the diagnosis of BD. Patients who visited a locomotive medicine clinic presenting with myalgia, local swelling, or tenderness of extremities without an established diagnosis of BD were retrospectively screened. Researchers examined the clinical, histological, and imaging findings and treatment outcomes in patients who presented with focal vasculitic myositis as the primary manifestation of BD. They included 10 adult patients with focal vasculitic myositis as the primary manifestation of BD. This study’s findings demonstrate that focal vasculitic myositis can be a primary manifestation of BD warranting medical attention. It was shown that BD-associated myositis responds well to oral steroid therapy.
