Focal and diffuse chronic central serous chorioretinopathy treated with half-dose photodynamic therapy or subthreshold micropulse laser

American Journal of Ophthalmology Apr 05, 2019

van Rijssen TJ, et al. - Data were analyzed to study the consequence of high-density subthreshold micropulse laser (HSML) treatment vs half-dose photodynamic therapy (PDT) in chronic central serous chorioretinopathy (cCSC) cases in this retrospective analysis. They found more resolution of subretinal fluid in PDT-treated as compared to HSML-treated cases in the focal leakage group (both at first evaluation and final visit) (evaluation visit 1: 57% in the PDT group vs 17% in the HSML group, final visit:75% and 38%). A higher retinal sensitivity increase was noted in PDT-treated patients in the focal and diffuse leakage group as compared to the baseline and final visit (+3.1±3.1dB vs +1.2±4.0dB, and +2.7±3.3dB vs +1.0±3.8dB, respectively). They found a higher increase in ETDRS letters in the PDT-treated group (only in the diffuse leakage group) vs baseline and first evaluation visit (+4.4±6.1 vs +0.9±10.0).
