Fluid resuscitation during persistent postpartum haemorrhage and maternal outcome: A nationwide cohort study
European Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Reproductive Biology Mar 26, 2019
Henriquez DDCA, et al. - In this retrospective cohort study of 883 women, researchers examined whether increasing volumes of crystalloids and colloids administered before transfusion of packed red blood cells in women with persistent postpartum hemorrhage is associated with adverse maternal outcomes. The reference group comprised 199 of 883 women who received ≤2 L of clear fluids. Outcomes suggest an independent association of clear fluids volume >4 L with adverse maternal outcome in women with persistent postpartum hemorrhage.
