Five-year risk of cervical precancer following p16/Ki-67 dual-stain triage of HPV-positive women
JAMA Feb 21, 2019
Clarke MA, et al. - In this prospective cohort study, researchers assessed the longitudinal performance of p16/Ki-67 dual-stain (DS) triage for cervical precancer detection in women positive for human papillomavirus (HPV; n=1,549) over 5 years of follow-up in the context of clinical management thresholds. According to findings, triage with p16/Ki-67 DS provided better stratification of long-term risks over 5 years vs cytology. In p16/Ki-67 DS–negative women, the low risk of cervical precancer may allow for the safe extension of follow-up intervals for 3 years.
