Factors associating with differences in the incidence of renal replacement therapy among elderly: Data from the ERA-EDTA Registry
Nephrology Dialysis Transplantation Apr 25, 2018
Helve J, et al. - Researchers analyzed the characteristics and survival of elderly renal replacement therapy (RRT) patients and investigated for explanations for differences in RRT incidence, using 29 national or regional registries providing data to the European Renal Association–European Dialysis and Transplant Association Registry. They also used Chi-square and Mann–Whitney U tests to assess variation in patient characteristics and carried out survival analyses using Kaplan–Meier curves and Cox regression. A remarkable variation was noted in the incidence of RRT among the elderly across European countries and regions, for which no explanation could be gained from the available data. However, in low- and high-incidence areas, remarkably similar survival of patients was noted.
