Factors associated with suicidal ideation in drug addicts based on the theory of planned behavior
BMC Psychiatry Jul 30, 2021
Jeihooni AK, Amirkhani M, Rakhshani T, et al. - Researchers herein sought the factors linked with suicidal ideation in drug addicts based on the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). Of 2,160 drug addicts (mean age: 39.24 ± 11.92) participating in this cross-sectional study, 80.28% had a history of quit and 43.19% had a history of arrest and imprisonment. In the drug addicts, the structures of attitude, subjective norms and perceived behavioral control and intent were identified as predictive of suicidal ideation. Hence, they suggest the theory of planned behavior to be a good framework for educational interventions to lower suicide in them.
