Factors associated with prolonged viral shedding in patients with avian influenza A(H7N9) virus infection
The Journal of Infectious Diseases Apr 25, 2018
Wang Y, et al. - In this multicenter, retrospective study, researchers collected data from adults hospitalized with A(H7N9) infection during 2013–2017 in China to compare clinical features and A(H7N9) shedding among patients with different neuraminidase inhibitor (NAI) doses and combination therapies and to evaluate factors associated with A(H7N9) shedding. Corticosteroid therapy and delayed NAI treatment were observed to be associated with prolonged A(H7N9) RNA shedding. A reduced A(H7N9) shedding duration was not observed with NAI combination therapy and double-dose oseltamivir treatment as compared to standard-dose oseltamivir.
