Factors associated with portomesenteric venous thrombosis after total colectomy with ileorectal anastomosis or end ileostomy

Gorgun E, et al. - Authors here looked for factors associated with porto-mesenteric venous thrombosis (PMVT) after total colectomy with ileorectal anastomosis or end ileostomy (TC/IRA or EI). As per findings, PMVT after TC/IRA or EI could occur in non-IBD patients. They recommended including PMVT in differential diagnosis after TC/IRA or EI in patients with intraabdominal infection or ileus, especially in younger patients.
