Expression of CLIC1 as a potential biomarker for oral squamous cell carcinoma: A preliminary study
OncoTargets and Therapy Nov 19, 2018
Xu Y, et al. - Researchers assessed if CLIC1 could be a biomarker for oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). Findings suggested CLIC1 to be a molecular target in OSCC. They noted a probability of CLIC1 to present a novel diagnostic marker and therapeutic target for OSCC. A significant overexpression of CLIC1 was seen in tissue and plasma of OSCC patients. There was a direct association of upregulated CLIC1 with histological grade, TNM stage, and tumor size. For overall survival rate of OSCC patients, CLIC1 was the independent prognostic factor; as seen on Multivariate Cox regression analysis. Moreover, in Pearson correlation analysis, CLIC1 was seen to be associated with multiple tumor-associated genes.
