Morita T, et al. – This retrospective observational study aimed to evaluate the excess mortality risk associated with the indirect health impacts of the 2011 triple disaster (earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear disaster) in Fukushima, Japan. The authors concluded that in the first month of the disaster, indirect health impacts were most severe. For reducing the indirect health effects of a disaster, early public health support could be an important factor, particularly for the elderly.
