Evidence-based review on temporomandibular disorders among musicians

van Selms MKA, et al. – The current study was interested in exploring the impacts of playing a musical instrument (i.e. violin/viola and wind instruments) or singing in the presence of temporomandibular disorders (TMDs). Researchers reported limited evidence to conclude that playing a wind instrument is a hazard to the temporomandibular system. Some studies reported no relationship between the playing of these instruments and the presence of signs and symptoms of TMDs.
