Evaluation of serum Selenium and erythrocyte Glutathione peroxidase levels in patients with recurrent tonsillitis

Indian Journal of Otolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery Sep 25, 2017

Kilinc M, et al. - The intent here was to examine the serum Selenium (Se) and Glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) levels, in patients with recurrent tonsillitis. Considerably lower levels of serum Se and erythrocyte GSH-Px levels of cases were detected with recurrent tonsillitis than in the healthy controls. The decline in serum Se and erythrocyte GSH-Px enzyme levels could cause a predisposition to a chronic disease state. However, advanced studies were warranted.
