Evaluation of full-endoscopic lumbar discectomy in the treatment of obese adolescents with lumbar disc herniation: a retrospective study
BMC Musculoskeletal Disorders Jun 24, 2021
Yu H, Zhu B, Song Q, et al. - Researchers herein investigated the efficacy of full-endoscopic lumbar discectomy (FELD) for the treatment of obese adolescents with lumbar disc herniation (ALDH). Clinical data from 208 patients with single-segment ALDH who underwent FELD were obtained retrospectively. After 1:4 propensity score matching, they included 28 patients and 80 patients in the obese and non-obese groups, respectively. Based on outcomes, obese patients with ALDH can safely and effectively be managed via FELD. Comparable efficacy of FELD was recorded in obese and non-obese patients with ALDH.
