Evaluation of candidemia in epidemiology and risk factors among cancer patients in a cancer center of China: An 8-year case-control study

Li D, et al. – The goal of this current investigation was to identify and assess the risk factors of candidemia in cancer patients. Findings reported that among cancer patients, mortality associated with candidemia versus bacterial bloodstream infections was markedly higher, C. albicans was cited as the primary pathogen. In addition, independent predictors for candidemia included total parenteral nutrition, urinary catheter, distant organ metastasis of cancer and gastrointestinal cancer.
