Evaluation of a multiplex Strip PCR test for infectious uveitis: A prospective multi-center study

American Journal of Ophthalmology Dec 06, 2019

Nakano S, Tomaru Y, Kubota T, et al. - Using various clinical samples based on this multi-center study, the 24-pathogens’ Strip PCR, a novel multiplex PCR test, was optimized for pathogen targeting infectious uveitis and was contrasted with that of qPCRs collected by PCR specialists to validate the performance of the optimized Strip PCR for infectious uveitis. Seven hundred twenty-two samples were examined at 14 institutes. By qPCR and Strip PCR, genomic DNA from aqueous humor and vitreous fluid was analyzed. Even when performed by technicians with various PCR skill levels, Strip PCR demonstrated low intra- and inter-institutional variability. For the rapid diagnosis of infectious uveitis, easy-to-use Strip PCR is recommended as its findings are similar to conventional qPCR.
