Esthetic improvements of post-orthodontic white-spot lesions treated with resin infiltration and microabrasion: A split-mouth, randomized clinical trial
The Angle Orthodontist Feb 12, 2019
Gu X, et al. - In this simple randomized, split-mouth, positive controlled design, the authors evaluated 20 individuals to comparatively analyze the esthetic improvement between postorthodontic white-spot lesions (WSLs) treated by resin infiltration and microabrasion for 12 months. They found a significant decline in lesion area ratio (R-value) and color change (ΔE) between 1 week (T1) after treatment and before treatment (T0). They also noticed a decrease in R-value and ΔE decreased significantly from T1 to 6 months (T6) after treatment in the microabrasion group. Overall, they concluded an improvement in the aesthetic presentation of WSLs with resin infiltration and microabrasion. They also exhibited adequate durability for 12 months.
