Electroglottographic and acoustic analysis of voice in children with vocal nodules
International Journal of Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology Apr 09, 2019
Szklanny K, et al. - A total of 57 children with vocal fold nodules (Group 1) vs 37 healthy children (Group 2; control) were estimated to study the voice quality in subjects with vocal nodules and also to quantify electroglottographic analysis (EGG) vs acoustic analysis. Closed Quotient (EGG signal), Peak Slope, Normalized Amplitude Quotient and Cepstral Peak Prominence (acoustic signal - waveform) were estimated. They noticed that variations in the EGG signal could be recognized in 95% of the subjects with vocal nodules which implied the occurrence of vocal nodules as well as the glottal insufficiency. Breathy phonation was confirmed by acoustic analysis in 63% of the subjects. They observed the Closed Quotient parameter more efficient when compared to Peak Slope. They reported incorrect voice parameters exhibition in the consequences of electroglottographic and acoustic analysis in vocal nodules cases vs control group.
