Effects of tranexamic acid on the recovery of osteochondral defects treated by microfracture and acellular matrix scaffold: An experimental study
Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery and Research Apr 23, 2019
Degirmenci E, et al. - Data were studied to analyze the influence of local tranexamic acid (TA) application on the healing of osteochondral deficiencies on rabbits. When compared with group 2 (control), statistically higher mean Brittberg scores in the fourth and eighth weeks were recorded in group 1 (study group). They also found more rapid and organized regeneration of subchondral and cartilage tissues in group 1. They also reported statistically higher mean O' Driscoll scores in both weeks in group 1. They recommended the application of TA in humans also as it improved the healing time and tissue stability in osteochondral defects implanted a-cellular scaffold after microfracture.
