van Rijckevorsel-Scheele J, et al. - Researchers analyzed 19 eligible studies identified from Embase, Medline (OvidSP), Cochrane Central, Cinahl, PsycInfo and Web of Science (published up to and including November 2017) to determine the impact of healthcare interventions on quality of life among the frail elderly. In these studies, the following healthcare interventions were described: multidisciplinary treatment, exercise programs, testosterone gel, nurse home visits, and acupuncture. A statistically significant impact on subdomains of quality of life was reported in seven studies, and a statistically significant influence on the overall quality of life score was reported in two studies. As per 10 studies, no statistically significant difference was found between the intervention and control groups. Overall, inconsistent impact of healthcare interventions on the quality of life among frail elderly individuals were reported across studies. No differences between the intervention and control groups were reported in the majority of the studies.
