Effect of vitamin K2 on postural sway in older people who fall: A randomized controlled trial
Journal of the American Geriatrics Society Jun 23, 2019
Witham MD, et al. - In this study that was conducted in 14 primary care practices in Scotland, UK, researchers assessed how postural sway, falls, healthcare costs, and indices of physical function in older people at risk of falls were influenced by vitamin K2 supplementation. For 1 year, once-daily placebo or oral vitamin K2 200 μg or 400 μg was administered to community-dwelling participants (n=95; aged 65 years or more) who had experience ≥ 2 falls, or one injurious fall, in the previous year. No improvement in postural sway or physical function was observed in relation to oral vitamin K2 supplementation in older people at risk of falls.
