Effect of vitamin D supplementation on some inflammatory biomarkers in type 2 diabetes mellitus subjects: A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials
Annals of Nutrition and Metabolism Jun 29, 2018
Yu Y, et al. - Researchers analyzed data from randomized controlled trials reporting the impact of vitamin D supplementation on high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and interleukin-6 (IL-6) in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). The trials included in this study were identified from PubMed and the Cochrane Library. The pooled effects were calculated using either a fixed-effects or a random-effects model. They found that in T2DM subjects, the benefit of vitamin D supplementation included attenuation of hs-CRP, however, no significant impact of vitamin D supplementation on TNF-α and IL-6 was evident.
