Effect of two different primers on the shear bond strength of metallic brackets to zirconia ceramic
BMC Oral Health Apr 02, 2019
Franz A, et al. - Investigators examined the data to quantify the influence of 2 different primers (Monobond S and Monobond Etch & Prime) on the shear bond strength of metallic brackets to zirconia ceramic. Shear bond testing (SBT) resulted in significantly higher shear bond values when using Monobond Etch & Prime compared to using Monobond S. Activation of the brackets showed no different results compared to non-activated brackets. Irrespective of the primer and the activation status, cement remnants on the ceramic surface were not indicated on the Adhesive Remnant Index (ARI). They concluded great potential for the bonding of brackets with the use of Monobond Etch & Prime on dental zirconia ceramics.
