Effect of the apolipoprotein E genotype on cognitive change during a multidomain lifestyle intervention: A subgroup analysis of a randomized clinical trial

Solomon A, et al. - Experts aspired to investigate whether the apolipoprotein E (APOE) ε4 allele modified the previously reported significant cognitive benefits of a multidomain lifestyle intervention (prespecified subgroup analysis). In older at-risk individuals, healthy lifestyle changes could be beneficial for cognition, even in the presence of APOE-related genetic susceptibility to dementia. Moreover, the findings highlighted the importance of early prevention strategies that targeted multiple modifiable risk factors simultaneously.
