Effect of preoperative patient expectations on outcomes after reverse total shoulder arthroplasty
Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery Jul 04, 2018
Rauck RC, et al. - Authors ascertained the impact of preoperative expectations on outcomes after reverse shoulder arthroplasty (RSA). They presumed that patients with greater expectations would have better outcomes. Results demonstrated an association of a higher level of expectations for the relief of nighttime pain and improving the ability to participate in nonoverhead sports with improved outcomes after RSA. Higher expectations for relieving pain, improving self-care, improving ability to perform daily activities, and improving ability to drive or put on a seatbelt were seen in patients.
