Metformin, compared to placebo, was not associated with glycemic control in T1D patients. Findings revealed beneficial effects of metformin such as lower BMI and reduced insulin requirements, TC and LDL-c. However, negative outcomes, like gastrointestinal adverse effects and severe hypoglycemia, ought to be considered in the use of metformin for T1D patients.
