Effect of matrix metalloproteinase 8 inhibitor on resin-dentin bonds
Dental Materials Feb 19, 2018
Ou Q, et al. - The purpose of this trial was to assess the impact of the matrix metalloproteinase 8 (MMP-8) upon the resin-dentin bonds. Authors also evaluated the mechanical properties of the interfaces over time and investigated the probable application of MMP-8 inhibitor I (MMP8-I) as a specific MMP-8 inhibitor to be included in dental adhesives. The degradation of resin-dentin bonds over time was prevented by the MMP-8 inhibition I, which was better than broad-scale enzyme inhibitor chlorhexidine (CHX). Findings suggested that in order to extend the longevity of resin-dentin bonds, MMP8-I could be incorporated in dentistry for the prevention of collagen degradation in hybrid layers.
