Effect of gingival augmentation procedure (free gingival graft) on reducing the risk of non-carious cervical lesions: A 25- to 30-year follow-up study
Journal of Periodontology Jul 27, 2019
Agudio G, et al. - In this long-term case series, researchers evaluated the development/prevalence of non-carious cervical lesions (NCCLs) at sites that after free gingival graft (FGG) were and were not treated with gingival augmentation. Throughout the study, mixed-effects logistic regression was used. Investigators found that 49 patients/130 sites were available for analysis at T2 whereas 44 patients/120 sites at T3. According to findings, ‘periodontal phenotype modification’ accomplished by FGG can prevent NCCL development/progression. Evidence indicates that the attached gingiva's thickness and width directly affected the need for these lesions to be restored during the 25- to 30-year observation period.
