Effect of fluoride dentifrices on white spot lesions during orthodontic treatment: A randomized trial
The Angle Orthodontist Feb 12, 2019
Kau CH, et al. - Investigators estimated 120 candidates in 3 prospective groups to evaluate the influence of Clinpro 5000, Clinpro Tooth Creme, and MI-Paste Plus on the formation of white spot lesions in subjects experiencing orthodontic treatment. The candidates were asked to brush on with those selected products for 2 minutes twice daily for 4 months. They used the Enamel Decalcification Index (EDI) to ascertain the number of white spot lesions per surface per visit. They found better results from the use of Clinpro 5000 as compared to other 2 test pastes. Although, they noticed an improvement with the use of all the 3 products. They observed superior protection against enamel decalcification with Clinpro 5000 in comparison to Clinpro Creme whereas mixed support was reported when compared to MI-Paste Plus.
