Effect of effervescent paracetamol on blood pressure: A crossover randomized clinical trial
Journal of Hypertension Jul 03, 2018
Benitez-Camps M, et al. - Researchers assessed the impact of effervescent paracetamol vs noneffervescent paracetamol on office and ambulatory blood pressure (BP) in hypertensive patients who visited primary care centers in Catalonia and the Basque Country. The participants had an office BP 150/95 mmHg or less and daytime ambulatory BP 140/90 mmHg or less, stable pharmacologic or nonpharmacologic antihypertensive treatment, and concomitant chronic osteoarticular pain. In this 7-week study, the main analyses were carried out. Findings revealed that administration of effervescent paracetamol tablets (1 gram three times a day) resulted in a significant daytime and overall increase in ambulatory 24-hour SBP.
