Effect of chronic kidney disease on the progression of clinical attachment loss in older adults: A 4-year cohort study
Journal of Periodontology Apr 02, 2019
Iwasaki M, et al. - In this 4-year cohort study, researchers estimated 388 community-dwelling Japanese adults of age 70 years to study the influence of chronic kidney disease on the progression of clinical attachment loss (AL) of teeth. They recorded that 27.8% of cases had CKD at baseline. They noticed AL progression in 21.8% of the studied teeth after 4 years. An association of CKD with significantly higher odds of AL progression was reported after applying inverse probability weighting and adjusting for potential confounders including sex, use of devices for interdental cleaning, smoking, diabetes, tooth location, an abutment for a removable denture, and highest AL.
