Urolithiasis Jun 10, 2018
Degirmenci T, et al. - Experts evaluated the importance of residual fragments for developing SIRS in patients with stone culture and/or renal pelvic urine culture (RPUC) positivity. The subgroup analysis of 203 patients who had post-PCNL residual fragments did not suggest any association in the peroperative stone and/or RPUC positivity and the development of the SIRS. Nonetheless, there was an association of the presence of residual fragments after PCNL and SIRS development, in patients with residual fragments, no additional risk for development of post-PCNL infectious complications with stone culture and/or RPUC positivity was seen.
